Was the Justice League movie in the theatres? Or did it go straight to DVD? I think if it went to DVD, it doesn’t count. I cannot recall any commercials or any publicity about it. {sigh} That’s why Dan was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
Nothing going here. It was a little cloudy today, but no rain. I practically have no food in my flat, so I went over to Tesco today, and wondered around the place. I still did not see the wonton skins, so I will need to ask. So, there I was just perusing up and down the aisles, I had forgotten my list. Of all the things I got, I think I missed about half the stuff. And added some items to my basket.
I found some Lipton Ice Tea here, which I thought, what a find! Woohoo! And yes, I spelled it right, over here I guess they say ice tea and not iced tea. Either way, I am happy about that; however, for those of you pinching your pennies, it’s about $2 for 1.5 liters. That’s my splurge item. Mangoes are going for $2 each. Some of the stuff, I just wonder about. There are plenty of potatoes over here, though.
What else, I figure this is a hodge podge of stuff I keep forgetting to put down, like . . . now I cannot think of anything. Let me find some dinner, and get back to this.
Ok, I’m back, not that a reader would notice the break. Like I said before, reading is much better because there are no commercials. Soooooo . . .
Not sure if I mentioned this before, but awhile ago, I was flipping channels and came across Anthony Bourdain. He has this series that he travels the world looking at the foods of the area and culture. He is a New Yorker with his sarcasm, and tells some interesting stories. He has/had a show on the Food Network, and his shows are playing over here. He is currently the head chef at Les Halles in NYC. When I get back there, it would be interesting to eat there. He wrote a couple of books, and I broke down and bought one. Well, technically, two for the price of one, so I feel vindicated. It’s a paperback with his first book, Kitchen Confidential, where it’s an autobiography of himself; and what really goes on in the kitchens of restaurants.
The other book is A Cook’s Tour, where he details his adventures all over the world. I believe his show is based on the book, since the show is called the same thing. He is a very interesting guy, he is not afraid of self-deprecating and is pretty honest about his life. However, there is not a lot mentioned about his wife, and how he got to Les Halles.
Coincidently, I was watching this show, darn it, I cannot remember the name. But this guy goes and tries something, like entering a chili pepper eating contest, and then for the week prior he goes and trains for it. Learning from the best in the area and gets tips on how to get it done. I think the guy is Bob Blumer. Got it, Glutton for Punishment. One show was that there is a race for waiters, and that the waiter(ess) carries a tray with a glass of water and the bottle, and races for a block backand forth, and you cannot spill the water. It just so happened that the race is sponsored by Les Halles.
Well, the thing is that you have to be an employed waiter(ess). So, in order to train and enter, he gets hired by Les Halles. And then he works a couple of shifts and it’s kind of funny to see him training and stuff. Any who . . .
Will let you know about the book when I finish.
