So, like any other Monday, what a bore.  Got some paperwork done.  How I detest Mondays.  Maybe so much as a Monday, more like any day after a day off.  {sigh} What is it about Mondays or the day after.  Why is t so hard to get up and go to work.  What motivates us to get up and do a job?  I have asked a lot of  people if they like their job, most people said yes.

For me, I don’t know.  I know I do not hate my job.  Not sure if I would say that I love my job.  I think my work is interesting, I definitely have had a lot of opportunities with the Isle.  I just don’t understand what motivates people.  Let me re-phrase, I have yet to find what motivates me.

I guess I really do not know what I have a passion for in my life.  Does every one really have a purpose in life?  If so, does that mean life is pre-destined and therefore no one really has choices in their lives?  Okay, way too deep for a Monday.  I think I need some chocolate.

So, I have been watching some British telly, there have been some interesting shows on.  Let me tell you about some, in particular order:

1. Come Dine with Me:  This is an interesting show where 4-5 stangers come together and each one hosts a dinner party throughout the week, and then are scored at the end of the night.  The winner gets £2,000.  It’s interesting in what each one makes for dinner and passes for entertainment.

2. 8 out of 10 Cats: This is an interesting statistical show.  There are 6 comedians/celebratities, 3 on each side, and they need to fill in the blanks of a statistic that the host puts up.  Kind of interesting as to what the comedians come up with.

3. The Gadget Show:  This is not so bad, they show and display all these neat electronical gadgets.

The Brits have a lot of documentaries, kind of like seeing 20/20 , but each story on its own and more in depth.  There is a lot about health and the human body.  Those are pretty interesting.

I think that’s about it for tonight.

  1. Ingrid, I feel your existential angst. I, too, love my job. But why am I doing it? Why do I bother? Am I really hoping that my life will turn into something more? Shouldn’t I just stop all this adventurous silliness and move to Denver to be near the family?

But, if I did that, wouldn’t I be more unsatisfied? My adventuring at least provides an outlet for the hunger of ambition. If I dropped the ambition, would I be able to survive?

You’re right — too deep for a Monday. But I wrote about passion for life (in a sense) on my blog today, so it came to mind.

  2. Ingrid,

I was thinking you need to find your passions.
Have you ever gotten online and taken some of those personality tests? How about the ones about what you should do with your life? Myers Briggs is even online.

There are all sorts of free tests that you should check out – find your passion, then pursue it.

One of my favorite quotes (I forget who said it) The meaning of life is life with a meaning.

  3. PASSION?

How about I work to pay the bills!

Passion is for the golf course, passion to hit the ball so sweet, so straight, so far! I think work was never meant to be loved. Do you think you can take a picture of a true GOLF Links course? You really do not have to be a photographer to capture the beauty of a golf course. Truly breath taking all by itself!

  4. Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Ingrid! We miss you.
