Ok, wow, 2 posts in 1 day, what is the world coming to?
Not sure, but if you read Thursday’s post, you will laugh when I tell you that I bailed in going to the store. I was tired, and what really clinched it was that it was raining . . . ok, misting . . .ok, I felt a few drops. Hey – it could have just dumped and then where would I be? I’ll tell, well, I would be writing it in this post, making you feel sorry for me, me, the sick one, ok, physically, not mentally, although some say . . . stuff, and I do not know those “some say” people. Maybe I can be one. Here’s one:
Life is fair. There I said it and wrote it, you will just have to believe that i actually said it out loud when I was typing it. I am in that category that Life if Fair, not Mild or Exuberant, but Fair, like Partly Cloudy. ha ha ha Was trying to work that in some how.
Anyways, I realized that a lot of people think life is fair. Take all of you who believe in Karma. You believe that if you do a bad thing then bad things will happen to you. Well, is that another way of saying that Life is Fair? I think so. Although not in HUGE ways, but little things; like getting that primo parking spot one morning. Or finding that $5 bill in your back pocket; or even getting the last fresh bagel/doughnut. Hmmm, doughnuts.
Anyways, I think that was my insight for the day.
For those kind of, sorta, keeping track, here is my new thing for the week or month or so. I went into a neighborhood deli, to say loosely. It was a place where I could but edible goods . . . although even that description can conjure up different things, like a bakery, so you people get your head out of the gutter. Ok, so would my head be in the gutter along side yours if i thought that you were thinking about what I think you were thinking? So, did any of that make sense?
Anyway, I ordered the egg and bacon baguette. The counter lady asked, soft or hard, and she pointed to the 2 different kinds. Ahh, my brain figured, crusty or not. I opted for the soft, because I do not know how “crusty” the fresh baguette was. It was pretty tasty, let me tell you. Also, I ordered a roast chicken sandwich. Now, before I read on an ex-pat site that the English spread butter/margarine on the sandwich bread instead of mayo or mustard, and so far I have encountered that.
So, there I was ordered my chicken sandwich, on the crusty bread , ok, so I broke down and tried it, and it is pretty soft I have to say. Anyway, back to the story. I watched her as she carefully handled my baguette with paper (kudos for being sanitary) and she prepared my sandwich. And what do I see? She cut the baguette and she spread, what looked like margarine on the bread. I have yet to taste the sandwich, but what got me more was that she was putting the chicken nice and neatly into the baguette she asked if I wanted a salad. I said no thanks, and the she was pointing to some shredded lettuce and stuff.
Oh – hey new slang (maybe) when preparing a sandwich, and the English say salad, they may mean garnishments. I guess, at times I figure it is automatic that some one would put lettuce and tomatoes on a sandwich. Although, the more I think about it, Subway’s ask what you want, and MacAllisters says you need to ask for your sandwich to be “dressed”, so maybe it is not so far fetched after all. Ok, but the margarine/butter? We’ll…let you know later on that one.
i also had my weekly fish and chips. it’s the staff meal here at the casino on Fridays. Yesterday, i believe I had a pie, like a pot pie. That was pretty tasty. Next week some time, i will definitely hit Greggs. Definitely fattening, and definitely not for those who are on Atkins and avoiding carbs. Almost everything in there is made of puff pastry. Hmmm.
Ok, I think that is about it. I plan to sleep a lot this weekend and make sure i recoup from my illness . . cough, sniffle, sniffle. I need to buy some supplies for the weekend, like food. Otherwise, hope every one has a good weekend.
It will be my company’s fiscal year end, so i will be up early to get through the cash count and such. As I will be up early, at approximately the same time, the rest of the department (around midnight or later) will be up also getting their counts done. hey does this feel like a world wide thing? Ok, time to go.
