April 16, 2008 (Happy B-Day to Me)

Hello All,

Since this blog is all about me, I figured I can wish myself a Happy Birthday, so hey Happy Birthday to me.  Although, I do not like it when in a restaurant every one gathers and makes a spectacle.  So, I already had a few B-day wishes, thank you.  If you feel like, all could place the B-day wishes in the comments and let you know later how many I get.

So for all of you who do not know or realized yet, I am in sunny Las Vegas and have spent the last couple of days at the Annual IIA Gaming Conference.  I actually saw a few people from my past and other casinos, which was nice.  Learned a lot, walked a lot, and ate a lot.

Hey K – I saw Troy and Ken Tolbert.  They seem to be doing well.  Troy says he is coming to Birmingham, UK, not sure when and why, but I told him I was only 20 minutes away.  Remind me to get his email address to you.

Marla is making me a flan.  I opted out of a traditional cake.  I do like the custard.  I am sooo over creme brulee, flan is the way to go now, especially if it has the nice gooey caramel on the bottom.  While we were chatting about the flan, I mentioned the tres leches cake, and I am making that for Marla tomorrow, hope it turns out well.  We’ll also be celebrating my B-day twice since Cousin Dan is out golfing and will miss the 1st celebration.  Tomorrow, Marla is taking me to shop for seafood, yummy, although we will see how fresh the seafood is, considering this is Vegas and we are in the middle of the desert.  I am hankering for some crab.  Not sure which kind, or maybe just some big ol’ shrimp and fresh fish.  We’ll see what the market holds.  Hmm, maybe a shrimp boil…I wonder.  Marla may not like it cause of the mess, the kids may though since it is a little messy.

So, Dave had a good idea, why don’t I write my blog entry into Word, spellcheck, and paste in the blog?  Smack myself in the head, and say, D’oh!  Also, I just noticed that spellcheck is back, yeah!  But still no word count {sigh}

Hey – heard that Cousin Peter’s daughter, Lauren, was in a motor vehicle accident.  I hope every thing is ok and not too serious.  Peter and Diane are flying to Florida to be with her, and Kerry is babysitting their youngest, Andy.

I know this is serious, but please let me inject some humor into this situation.  Kerry and babysitting in the same sentence. Hmmm.  Let me tell you about my memories on my oldest brother and babysitting.  I believe that those 2 words should never be in the same sentence.  Hopefully, Peter and Diane do not read my blog.  So besides Kelvin tormenting me through childhood, or at least that is my side of the story and I am sticking to it, Kerry was, how shall I put it, more dictorial.  However, I was stubborn.  Ok, so there are different words for it, maybe brattish, or maybe something that rhymes with stitch. . . there are those under 18 who read this.  But hey, I was just a kid back then, what did I know?

So, I remember that Kerry wanted to go to the park with his friends, and he was “watching” his younger siblings.  And I flat out refused to go.  He begged and cajoled, and I still would not go.  He fnally resorted to bribery.  Now, he was talking.  However, I recall he offered, I accepted, and he never gave it to me.  So, which is worse, me who took the bribery, or him for renegging?  (Hmm, spelling?)

Well, anyways, I hope he has better luck many many years later and I am sure Andy’s a good kid, hopefully, since I have yet to meet him.  He does have some of the Mui genes in him.

I think that’s about it   Oh yeah, Happy Birthday to Me.

Those who wished me a happy b-day, thanks.
